West African Vodun

17% of the population of Benin practices an ancient polytheistic religion known as Vodon. Pronounced Voodoo it is the West African precursor to New World Voodoo. The central tenant is that everything in creation is divine as has a spirit. The divine creator has 2 aspects, male (Mawu) and female (Lisa). Although there are similarities between African and New World Voodoo the main difference is New World Voodoo contains elements of Christianity and local (mainly Creole and French) cultural traditions blended into it.

More cool pics of the Salt Flat

Bolivian Dough

1 Boliviano is equal to about 14 US cents today. They look like this:

Salar de Uyuni- World's Largest Salt Flat

The world's largest salt flat is located in south west Bolivia. It was created over 40,000 years ago when a large prehistoric lake, lake Minchin, dried up. There are approximately 10 billion tons of salt in the flat of which 25,000 are extracted each year (if I've done my math correctly it would take 400 years at the current rate to completely remove all the salt).

Attractions include the November flamingo migrations and the Salt Hotel. The flats also contain one of the highest deposits of Lithium, which the Government plans on extracting itself.

Famous Bolivians

Call me ignorant, but I have never heard of César Brie, Domitila Barrios De Chungara or Edgar Arandia. HOWEVER Rachel Welch is one name I do know. Though she was born in Chicago, her father was from La Paz.

Cocaine Factories in Boliva

Apart from a thriving natural gas export business Bolivia is also known for some other interesting commodities.

King Procrastinator

Hey! So this is Mark Greg Iwanicki (aka Artie). I guess you could call me the King Procrastinator. But apart from wasting time and space I like to learn about stuff. So with that my co-creator (Salvy- Queen Procrastinator) and I will be procrasti-LEARNING here on our new blog. It will definitely prove to be a fun, enlightening and procrastinating experience if for no one other than us. Thank you and see you on the other side of productivity.
